British Summertime is ending this weekend and recent clear night skies have seen temperatures plummet.  Here at The Granite House, we love a seasonal theme, so we’re taking the lead from the current chilly conditions.  Across the country, there’s a definite return to misty mornings, rain clouds and frost.  All of these have inspired quartz names – so although some may sound gloomy, we have plenty of suggestions to lift your spirits.

Mist & Fog

As the sun lowers in the sky, early morning light takes on a pale, translucent quality.  The undertones are subtle, but warm and when used in a colour scheme, these hues look great alongside other homely shades – for cabinetry colours think of ivory, pebble, dove grey or pale sage greens.   Worktop suggestions to co-ordinate and provide a refined scheme include Caesarstone Misty Carrara and Moorland Fog, Cimstone Cloudy Mist or Nordic Grey and from CRL, Grey Mist.

Rain & Clouds

As nights draw in and skies darken, we shift the mood to match.  Choosing a more dramatic contrast between cabinet colours and worktops creates a much stronger statement.  We’ve recently noticed an increased interest in darker worktop shades.  Painting cabinets in deeper, more intense colours such as Warm Pewter, Vulcan, Scree or Dark Lead will combine well with worktops such as Caesarstone Raindream and Cloudburst Concrete, Cimstone Nebula, Classic Quartz Cloudy or RT Stone Thunder White.

Snow & Frost

As temperatures continue to drop to below freezing point, frost forms on icy puddles and windows.  Nile Trading Ice White, Caesarstone Frosty Carrina and CRL White Water all take either their names or design characteristics from this phenomenon.

Hopefully, the arrival of snow fall is a little way off, but it remains a popular theme when it comes to quartz.  Translating glistening, snowy conditions into worktops often sees a sprinkling of sparkle, to replicate that crisp, bright Alpine effect.  Layering white on white works extremely well and bright white worktops include B-Quartz Brilliant Ice, Cimstone Lapland, Caesarstone Snow, and Nile Trading Snow White, though the choice stretches far beyond these few options.

Icebergs & Glaciers

Fortunately, we never experience the extreme weather conditions of the polar regions.  Associated with much colder climates, glacial rock is a natural formation of rock and ice, that has inspired Classic Quartz Alaska, Caesarstone Frozen Terra, Nile Trading Bianco Glacier, and CRL Montana and CRL Colorado all with their own unique design characteristics.

Heading even further north, Compaq’s Northern Lights collection offer truly authentic glacier inspired designs in an extensive choice of colours – Ice White, Ice Black, Ice Gold, Ice Viola, Ice Ink & Ice Green.

Thankfully, a polar expedition is not essential to see CRL Polar White, Arctic Shimmer or Quartz Forms Iceberg White – they can all be viewed in the comfort of our Bicester Showroom and you’re sure to receive a warm welcome!
