Speak to a Specialist

As the days get longer and natural light returns, spring is the perfect time to clean your home and your kitchen. From decluttering cupboards to deep cleaning surfaces, a proper spring clean not only makes your kitchen look better, but also makes you fall in love with your space again.

And when it comes to your worktops, knowing how to care for them properly makes all the difference.

Why Spring Cleaning Matters for Your Worktops

Your worktop is one of the hardest-working surfaces in your home, and over time, it collects:

  • Everyday spills and residues
  • Grease from cooking
  • Limescale around sinks
  • General wear from daily use

Spring cleaning is a chance to reset your surfaces and keep them looking their best for the months ahead.

As experts, we recommend regular cleaning using mild detergent and warm water, as harsher chemicals damage finishes and sealant over time.

Start With a Gentle Deep Clean

Before using any specialist products, begin with a simple clean:

  • Warm water
  • Mild washing-up liquid
  • A soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge

This removes everyday dirt without damaging the surface.  This is particularly recommended for natural stones such as marble and granite.

Caring For Quartz Worktops

Quartz is one of the easiest materials to maintain:

  • Non-porous and stain-resistant
  • No sealing required
  • Easy to clean with minimal effort

For spring cleaning:

  • Use warm water and a non-abrasive cleaner
  • Wipe with a soft cloth and dry thoroughly

Mild detergent and water are sufficient for quartz cleaning, and harsh chemicals should be avoided to prevent damage.

Caring for Granite

Granite is extremely durable but benefits from a little extra care:

  • Clean with pH-neutral or mild detergents
  • Dry surfaces to prevent streaks or residue
  • Check sealing periodically

We recommend neutral cleaners and soft cloths, as acidic products can damage the surface or strip protective sealants.  Good care will keep granite looking great for decades.

Caring for Marble

Marble is beautiful but more delicate than other stones, so it needs to be handled with care:

  • Avoid acidic cleaners (like vinegar or lemon)
  • Use pH-neutral cleaning products
  • Wipe spills quickly

Because marble is porous, it can etch and stain easily if exposed to acidic substances, so gentle cleaning is essential.

Don’t Forget Around the Hob and Sink

These areas often need extra attention:

  • Remove grease build up around the hob
  • Clean limescale near taps and sinks
  • Check seals and edges for wear

Leaving spills, grease, or acidic residues can lead to staining or long-term damage, especially on marble.

Refresh the Finish

Spring cleaning isn’t just about cleaning, it’s about restoring the look and feel of your kitchen.

  • Polish stainless steel features
  • Clean splashbacks
  • Clear clutter to let your worktops shine

 A Good Time to Reassess

Spring is also a time to step back and ask:

  • Does your kitchen still work for you?
  • Are your worktops still performing well?
  • Could a change improve how you use the space?

A lot of customers are planning upgrades at this time of year, especially when they realise just how much a worktop can transform a kitchen.

A thorough spring clean can do wonders for your kitchen, making it feel brighter, fresher and more enjoyable to use.  And, with the right care, stone worktops will continue to look and perform beautifully year after year.

We believe fantastic surfaces need great care, so whether you’re maintaining your current worktop or considering an upgrade, we’re here to help.
