At The Granite House, we’re proud to be accredited as a Real Living Wage Employer. This commitment goes beyond a pay rate, it’s about valuing our team, supporting our community, and doing business the right way.

What Is the Real Living Wage?

The Real Living Wage is the only UK wage rate based on the actual cost of living. The Living Wage Foundation calculates it each year to reflect what employees and their families need to live comfortably.

Unlike the Government’s National Living Wage, the Real Living Wage is voluntary, and higher. It applies to everyone over 18, recognising that real life costs start long before age 23.

Why We Made the Commitment

Our business runs on craftsmanship, skill, and care. None of that happens without a talented, dedicated team. By becoming a Real Living Wage Employer, we:

  • Recognise the people behind every worktop — our fabricators, fitters, and showroom team.

  • Support our local community — fair pay boosts the local economy.

  • Put our values into action — quality, integrity, and long-term thinking.

Paying the Real Living Wage isn’t a tick-box exercise for us, it’s a deliberate investment in our people.

Fair Pay Strengthens Our Business

Paying fairly benefits our team and our customers. When people feel valued, they stay, they grow, and they deliver their best work. That leads to:

  • Consistently high-quality craftsmanship.

  • A stable, experienced team on every project.

  • Better communication and service.

Joining a National Movement

More than 14,000 UK employers now pay the Real Living Wage. From family businesses to national brands, this movement is reshaping work across the country.
