MacMillan Coffee Morning

Here at The Granite House, our employees have been busy baking and we’ll be holding a Coffee Morning to fundraise for MacMillan Cancer Support.  So come along to our showroom for a mug of coffee, cup of tea and slice of homemade cake on Friday 30th September 2022.

While planning this event, it’s made us think about how kitchen & utility room design has changed and evolved to accommodate the vast array of kitchen equipment and gadgets now available.

You might not have space for a Kardashian size walk-in pantry, with beautiful Marble worktops and co-ordinated jars lined up in a row, but let’s take a closer look at the benefits of stone worktops when combined with clever design features.

Dressers and Breakfast cupboards

Concealing appliances such as coffee machines, kettles and toasters behind closed doors certainly makes it easy to keep the kitchen worktop neat and tidy.

However, a dedicated cupboard doesn’t automatically eliminate the drips, spills and stains from the tea & coffee making process.  Luckily, with Quartz Worktops, you don’t have to worry about stains. They are easy to clean and if you do have a more stubborn mark, then Cif or Astonish Cream Cleaner will get rid of it. If you pick a colour with lots of patterning, like CaesarStone Atlantic Salt or CRL River White then this will make your kitchen worktop even more forgiving.

Socket holes and charging points

Other kitchen equipment such as Kitchen-Aid mixers, blenders and slow-cookers that are used less frequently can happily sit on kitchen worktops or islands.  Your Quartz can be cut and shaped to suit the power sockets, whether they are there on the walls, the end-panels on the island or popping up through the top.

And for your smart phone charger points, we can ream out the underside of the stone so that they can slot in underneath and give you an invisible power supply.

Visit our Showroom at Unit 42, Murdock Road, Bicester, OX26 4PP to have a coffee and some cake – and  some ideas for your gorgeous new kitchen!

The Questions Nobody Ask About Stone Worktops (But Should)

Beyond the Patio: Using Stone Throughout the Garden
Given the current heatwave in the UK, we thought it was only right that we talk about using stone in the garden. When most people think about stone in the garden, they picture paving or a patio. However, modern garden design increasingly uses stone in far more creative and functional ways. As people invest more […]

Why the Kitchen Island Has Become the New Dining Table
Not so long ago, the dining table was were family life happened. Meals were eaten there. Homework was completed there. Guests gathered around it. It was the natural centre of the home. Today that role is increasingly being taken over by the kitchen island. Across many of the projects that we see, customers are investing […]

The Rise of the Hidden Kitchen
For many years, kitchens were designed to stand out.  We’re talking feature extractor hoods, bold cabinetry, statement appliances and open shelving all competed for attention. Today we’re seeing something different. The kitchen hasn’t disappeared, it is becoming invisible though. Across many of  the projects that we work, customers are increasingly choosing kitchens that feel calmer and […]
